Born in Judibana, Venezuela in 1961, Ron van Dongen was raised in Warmond, the Netherlands. He studied photography at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and currently resides in Portland, Oregon. His seductive black and white florals unearth floral secrets and symbols of our alternately nurturing and perilous relationship with nature. In simple arrangements and with masterful printing techniques, van Dongen conjures visual sensations that can reflect the struggles and confusions of everyday life in memorializing the beautiful, the simple, the flower.
“Until we can comprehend the beguiling beauty of a single flower, we are woefully unable to grasp the meaning and potential of life itself.” —Virginia Woolf
